# Register SFUSD Participants (Part 2)

Follow these steps to upload or update participant demographic information in CMS. If your program does not already track participant identifiers in an external database, retrieve Person ID for each participant requiring demographic uploads or updates through the ‘Assigned Persons’ file (as described above). Use the ‘Participant, Parent & Staff’ Data Extract to access Person ID and all other participant information submitted in your agency’s CMS.

**Download the ‘DCYF SFUSD Student Demographic Upload Template’ from the CMS *****Resources***** tab - *****Upload***** section.**

**Populate Person ID in the upload template.**

**Populate the rest of the columns for each participant by selecting values in the drop-down menus.**

**Save the upload template to your computer.**

**Click on the *****Upload***** tab in the left-hand menu in CMS.**

**Click on the *****Choose File***** button in the Data Upload Tool.**

**Select the upload template file you would like to upload. This will upload the file to the Data Upload Tool.**

**Select the ‘DCYF SFUSD Student Demographic Upload’ for *****Type*****.**

**Click on the *****Begin Upload***** button in the Data Upload Tool.**

**(If applicable) Review any error messages, make appropriate changes and repeat steps 7-11.**
